I just graduated… now what? The new resources now available to the Badger Class of 2021

MADISON, Wis. — Congratulations, Class of 2021! After a whirlwind four years, ending with a wacky final one, you are officially alumni of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. And that comes with new perks! Here are three all grads should know about:

1. You can now join a local chapter of the UW Alumni Association.

There are more than 100 chapters in cities around the world, so wherever you move, it’s easy to connect with Badgers in your new community. Badger volunteers run the chapters and organize events, from watch parties to walks. This year, the Alumni Association revamped its website, uwalumni.com, to make it easier for grads to locate their closest chapter.

2. Take advantage of your free, 2-year membership.

The Alumni Association gives recent graduates their first two years free. After that, it costs $35 to retain membership. Again, joining the association gives you access to free campus events every year, including many around Homecoming, as well as hospitality at One Alumni Place, the opportunity to ride on the Association’s pontoon boat, and national discounts on car rentals and more.

3. Mark your calendars for two special fall celebrations.

With many spring in-person alumni events called off this year, the Association is already looking ahead to Homecoming: planning for in-person events with virtual enhancements. Homecoming weekend is October 28-30 this year. In addition to that, the WAA is holding an additional celebration the weekend of September 18th and 19th, specifically for grads who weren’t able to celebrate this spring.

One final note: Don’t forget to check your mail! The WAA will be mailing out its traditional crest pin to all members of the Class of 2021, since alumni were unable to distribute them in person. All graduates should receive theirs by June.
