I-90 eastbound lanes reopen after roughly 20 cars crash in ditch

DEFOREST, Wis. — An estimated 20 cars were in the ditch on I-39/90 southbound about 3 miles north of DeForest due to icy conditions, which closed right and left lanes for about and hour and a half, according to Wisconsin State Patrol
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said that the incidents began occurring at about 12 p.m. near mile marker 121, south of WI-60.
According to the State Patrol, the multicar crash was caused by snow drifting over an icy patch on the road.
State troopers and Columbia County deputies are directed traffic through the area.
State Patrol recommended staying off the interstate and taking northbound or southbound routes to avoid traffic.
