I-39/90 lane closures expected this week for overnight construction

MADISON, Wis. — Multiple overnight construction projects on and near I-39/90 may force some drivers to take alternate routes this week, according to Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials.

The I-39/90 northbound ramp to the westbound Beltline will be closed for overnight construction from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday nights. WisDOT officials also said multiple lanes of I-39/90 southbound between the County AB/Buckeye Road bridge and Beltline interchange will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Officials said crews will spend those nights adding a polymer overlay to the interstate’s surface, which will increase traction on the roadway and help protect the pavement from winter weather in the future.

Drivers traveling in the area should slow down and keep an eye out for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Lane closures and construction work is weather dependent and subject to change.

More information about traffic delays and lane closures is available on WisDOT’s website.
