Hy-Vee recalls Macadamia Nuts for possible salmonella contamination

Hy-Vee is recalling Hy-Vee brand 2-ounce Macadamia Nuts because of a potential salmonella contamination, according to a release.

The company is voluntarily recalling the product, which has been distrusted to all of Hy-Vee’s 240 grocery stores in eight states, including Wisconsin.

The product comes in a blue-colored 2-ounce plastic bag and it was sold between July 2, 2015, and Feb. 3, 2016, officials said. The UPC is 075450132878 with a “Best By” date of 10 JUL 2016.

No illnesses have been reported in connection to the product, but one of the store’s product supplier issued a voluntary recall after salmonella positive product was found during routine product sampling.

Officials said anyone who bought the product between July 2, 2015, and Feb. 3, 2016, should throw it away or return it to their local Hy-Vee store for a full refund.
