MADISON, Wis. — Anyone eligible for Pfizer’s COVID-19 booster shot can now get one for free at any Hy-Vee location.

Booster shots were recently approved by the CDC for people 65 and older, nursing home residents, adults 18 and older who have underlying health problems and workers 18 and older who have an increased risk of exposure to the virus.

The CDC recommends recipients get their third dose at least six months after their second.

People who’ve gotten Moderna’s or Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine are ineligible to get Pfizer’s booster shot. People younger than 18 are also ineligible.

Any patients who get their COVID-19 shot at Hy-Vee will get a $10 gift card to the grocery store. The promotion runs until Nov. 1.

Appointments are strongly recommended. They can be scheduled on Hy-Vee’s website.
