Husband charged in officer’s death in court
Iraq War veteran charged with killing his wife as she worked
MILWAUKEE — The attorney for an Iraq War veteran charged with killing his wife as she worked as a Milwaukee-area police officer is trying to get his statements to police thrown out.
Prosecutors say 30-year-old Ben Sebena acknowledged ambushing his Jennifer Sebena while she conducted a pre-dawn patrol alone in Wauwatosa on Christmas Eve.
His attorney has asked that those statements be thrown out and a judge will decide the issue during a hearing on Friday.
Benjamin Sebena has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect to the charge of first-degree intentional homicide. Attorneys are also expected to discuss a report by a forensic psychiatrist, who was expected to determine if there was a basis to maintain the plea.
His trial is set to start July 8.
