Honoring a human rights champion
There are few honors in this city that top the annual James C. Wright Human Rights Award. The late Reverend Wright was one Madison’s greatest champions of civil and human rights. So we are especially pleased to see this year’s award go Dr. Floyd Rose.
Dr. Rose so clearly exemplifies the dedication and compassion of Rev. Wright. As President of the Wisconsin Council, founder of the African American Communication and Collaboration Council, President of 100 Black Men, Board member of the Center for Family Policy and Practice, the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County and so much more, Dr. Rose has been a tireless advocate for the health and dignity of all.
His presence at virtually every important community conversation on issues of equality and justice speaks to his commitment to those values and ideals. He is widely respected and beloved.
We celebrate this great honor as well deserved and an inspiration to those who aspire to Dr. Rose’s example of service and leadership.
