Hologic to close Third Wave subsidiary, lay off 130 workers
Layoffs to begin around Sept. 30
MADISON, Wis. — Hologic, Inc., has notified the state that it will close its Madison subsidiary Third Wave Technologies and lay off employees.
The company said it plans to close its facility at 502 South Rosa Rd. and lay off approximately 130 employees starting on or about Sept. 30, or during the following 14 days, and continuing until Sept. 28, 2014.
The company said it expects that once these actions are taken they will be permanent. Hologic bought Third Wave back in 2008.
The company develops, makes and supplies diagnostic and medical imaging systems for women’s health.
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and its regional partner, the South Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, will provide rapid response services to the affected workers.
