Holiday Shopping Bazaar supports crafters, vendors on Small Business Saturday
MADISON, Wis. — It’s a big day for small businesses. While many of us enjoy the luxuries of online shopping and two-day delivery, local stores are encouraging shoppers to put down there smart phones and celebrate Small Business Saturday.
Crafters and vendors without a store front still participated in the shopping holiday at the Holiday Shopping Bazaar at the Clarion Suites in Madison.
Annette and Sharon of Stoughton were knocking out some Christmas shopping.
“[We’re looking for] whatever we find. We’re going to know it when we see it,” they said.
Crafts, treats and clothing were on display as vendors showed off their one-of-a-kind goods that can’t be found anywhere else, no matter how long you waited in line on Black Friday.
“I think it’s very important because I’m a crafter too and it’s very important to get out in the community and see what everyone is selling,” Anette said.
“We’ve got crafters that spend all this time making products and they want to showcase it,” Katie O’Connor, who organized the event, said.
She also partnered with the Empty Stocking Club to bring holiday cheer to kids in need.
“We’re asking people to bring in a new toy, unwrapped, so that we can give it to the Empty Stocking Club,” O’Connor said.
