Hilldale plans to expand to create more space for retailers and restaurants
The expansion will add more businesses, an ice rink, an expanded farmers market and more.
Hilldale announced Thursday it is planning to expand on its south-side to develop underutilized areas of the shopping center.
The expansion will bring in new retailers, restaurants, shops and entertainment options, a release says. In addition to businesses, Hilldale plans to use green infrastructure and add electric car charging ports, bike tune-up stations and more dog-friendly areas.
“Our goal has always been to make Hilldale a community destination,” says General Manager Nanci Horn. “These additions make it even more inviting for our customers to spend an entire day here, shopping, eating, relaxing and spending time with friends and family. But we are also listening to the needs and wants of our growing community and trying to meet those as best we can.”
The expansion will create an expanded farmers’ market, a dedicated space for live entertainment and a winter ice rink.
The release said the expansion announcement comes before the 60th anniversary of Hilldale in October 2022.
“We’re looking forward to a bright future, one that positions Hilldale as a vibrant gathering space for the community and a welcoming place for everyone,” Horn says.
