Wausau high school teacher charged with 6 counts of trying to create child porn

MADISON, Wis. — A teacher at a Wausau high school has been charged with six counts of attempting to use a minor to create child pornography, according to a news release from the Department of Justice.

An indictment against 38-year-old Travis C. Greil alleges that between August 2015 and February 2020, Greil attempted to use six minor to produce child pornography using an iPad. During that time, Greil was employed as a teacher at D.C. Everest High School.

If convicted, Greil faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in federal prison for each count.

Greil is in custody in the Marathon County. His initial appearance in court has not been set.

According to a news release, the charges against Greil came as the result of an investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation — Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Everest Metro and Wausau police departments, the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office and the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office.
