Practices for the high school football season began in Wisconsin Tuesday.

The first regular season games are in a little over two weeks with the first full Friday night of games on August 21st.

At Middleton High School, Tim Simon begins his 12th year as head coach and the Cardinals are expected to once again be contenders for the Big Eight Conference title which it won last year.

Simon says the first day of practice is always an exciting time.

“You think you know a few things, but there are always a lot of surprises in the first two weeks of football,” Simon said. “That adds to the excitement. Who are the kids that are going to show up this year that made giant leaps from where they were last year?  That’s the unknown, and hopefully we’ll answer those questions pretty soon.”
