Here are the voter deadlines for the November 2022 election

MADISON, Wis. — There are a number of deadlines to keep in mind as we approach Election Day on November 8, 2022.

Here are the dates you’ll need to be aware of if you’re planning to vote:

October 19, 2022 – Last day for voter registration by mail or online (you can still register in-person at the polls on Election Day or at your local clerk’s office). Your voter registration form and proof of residence must be postmarked to your municipal clerk by this day.

(Click here for a list of what counts as proof of residence for voter registration.)

October 25, 2022 (or November 6, 2022, depending on municipality) – Last days to vote in-person absentee at your local clerk’s office. Office hours vary depending on where you live and the hours set by your municipality. It’s best to check with your municipal clerk (you can find out who that is and get contact information here) or check the MyVote website to see what your in-person absentee voting options are.

November 1, 2022 – This is the last day the United States Postal Service recommends sending your absentee ballot in by mail to ensure it arrives to the clerk’s office in time to be counted on November 8. You can still mail in your absentee ballot after this date, but it is not guaranteed to be delivered before the deadline of 8 p.m. on Election Day.

November 3, 2022 – Last day to request an absentee ballot for regular and overseas voters. Requests must be received by your municipal clerk no later than 5 p.m. You can click here to begin the process to request an absentee ballot by mail.

November 4, 2022 – Last day to register in-person at your municipal clerk’s office. You have until 5 p.m. to register, otherwise, you will have to wait to register at the polls on Election Day. This is also the last day indefinitely confined voters and members of the military who are not away from home can request an absentee ballot.

November 8, 2022 – Election Day. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. You can register to vote at the polls if you are not yet registered, and you have until 8 p.m. to drop off an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m. in order to be counted. Voters who are hospitalized may request a ballot be brought to them by an appointed agent if they are hospitalized in the 7 days before the election, and can request an absentee ballot between November 1, 2022 and November 8, 2022, although the deadline to do so is 5 p.m. on Election Day.

You can find more information on voting deadlines for this November’s election on the MyVote Wisconsin website.
