Here are all local charities you can give to on #GivingTuesday
MADISON, Wis. — Following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season.
The global day has been fueled by social media and collaboration since 2012. It seeks to inspire people to give back in an impactful way.
Local organizations are participating and calling on the Madison community to support local nonprofits.
United Way of Dane County is partnering with RISE to support the local Parent-Child Home Program this #GivingTuesday, to help ensure local children achieve their greatest potential in school.
PCHP is a nationally recognized program that provides two years of twice-weekly 30-minute visits to families with children ages 2 to 4 years who are challenged by poverty, isolation and limited educational opportunities.
All gifts collected on #GivingTuesday will be used to purchase books and educational toys to help local children become better prepared to start school.
The Dane County Humane Society is promoting a $12,000 matching gift challenge. Donations made on Tuesday will be matched up to $12,000, with the help of the leading sponsor the Berbee-Walsh Foundation.
The #GivingTuesday goal is to raise at least $30,000 to provide comfort and care to the thousands of animals in the shelter.
The Henry Vilas Park Zoological Society hopes to welcome a new male Amur tiger with the support of #GivingTuesday donors. An anonymous supporter pledged to match up to $10,000 in contributions given.
The zoo hopes to continue its commitment to tiger conservation in memory of its previous Amur tiger, Cyber.
