Helen May Aspero
Helen May (Horn) Aspero, age 104, of Prairie du Sac passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family the afternoon of Apr. 22, 2017. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Robert Pattison Horn and May A. Wood. She met her husband Dominic Anthony Aspero, on the beaches of South Jersey, and was united in marriage on Jul. 14, 1940.
Helen will be remembered for her stitching, crocheting and seamstress work. Further her ability to solve the puzzles in the daily newspaper, the excitement of the nightly Wheel of Fortune show, journaling, and the love of scarves were things Helen often discussed. Without a doubt she was stylish beyond her years, and the center of the Aspero family.
Grateful for having shared their lives with her, are two sons, Nicholas (Polly) Aspero of Stoughton, and Dominic (Sandy) Aspero of Prairie du Sac; her beloved grandchildren, Kathryn Aspero Mashaw, Heather (Kiple) Breunig, Jennifer (Antonio) Aspero Luna, Michelle (Bill) Aspero Guehrer, Shawn (Rachael) Aspero, and Lenora Aspero; 13 great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents; Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic Aspero Sr., a brother, Raymond Horn; and great granddaughter, Sophia Luna.
In her last days it is important to acknowledge all the people that cared for her. A special thank you to the staff at Home Health United Hospice that became a shining light in the darkest hours. Helen was a proud member of the First United Church of Christ, Sauk City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the church; First United Church of Christ, 504 Washington Ave., Sauk City, WI 53583.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
