Heid Music contributes to local school music programs
MADISON, Wis. — March is “Music in Our Schools” month and a local music store is stepping up to help contribute.
Heid Music is hosting a “Music Matters” initiative to raise money for school music programs. They are asking customers who come into the store to donate to a school of their choice and then are matching all donations.
“We realize that school music programs increasingly need community help to support their students’ success,” said Todd Heid, owner of Heid Music. “We want to help them bring as much music to their schools as possible.”
Heid Music has set a goal of matching $10,000 or more this month. So far they have raised $3,500 throughout the state and are hoping to get closer to their goal in the fundraiser’s final week.
“There’s a lot of studies out there that show music helps with critical thinking,” said Patrick Coughlin, manager of Heid Music. “It helps people succeed with learning and other facets of life in general, so it’s a really important thing.”
