HAZMAT unit responds to Waukesha Goodwill store for excessive dust

WAUKESHA, Wis. — A Waukesha Goodwill store was evacuated Saturday because of excessive dust.
Crews were sent to the store in the 2000 block of Meadow Lane around 11 a.m. after over a dozen people reported having trouble breathing. A HAZMAT unit was sent to the scene.

Officials said that nobody was hospitalized because of the incident. Crews cleared the building of any hazards, and staff and customers were allowed back in. An investigation showed that large amounts of dust in donation bins caused respiratory issues.
Investigation concluded the source was “excessive dust” in donation bins that caused respiratory problems among staff from large amounts of airborne dust particles.
