Hazel L. Gabelt
PINE BLUFF-Hazel L. Gabelt, age 93, of Pine Bluff, entered heaven on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. She was born on June 2, 1919, in Westby, the daughter of Lendor and Helga (Bakke) Larson. Hazel was united in marriage to Joseph Gabelt on June 2, 1938 in St. Mary’s Pine Bluff Catholic Church. Having a great eye for color combinations, Hazel was a prolific crocheter and made afghans and quilts, making sure every family member had one. At age 93, Hazel was an avid computer person and enjoyed reading, but she truly treasured most the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by five children, Joanne Postlethwaite, Elaine (Bart) Postlethwaite, Sam (B’Ann) Gabelt, Linda (Mike) Malaney, Laur (Nick) Weisensel; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Mary Larson; niece, Sherril Gabelt; nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; a son Butch; son-in-law, Bruce; granddaughter, Julie and eight brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARY’S PINE BLUFF CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3677 County Trunk P, Cross Plains, at 11:30 AM on Monday, July 30, 2012, with Fathers Tom Coyle and Cy Weisensel presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Hazel, be kind to others. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to parish nurse Mary Williams, the Cross Plains EMS, Meriter ER staff and Ingleside Nursing Home staff for their wonderful care over the years. Hazel will be remembered for the legacy of love she gave to her family.
