Harrison E. Koenig
Harrison E. Koenig, age 91, of Janesville, died Tuesday, Aug 7, 2012, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. He was born on Oct. 22, 1920, in Schuylkill Haven, PA, the son of Clayton and Laura (DeWald) Koenig. Harrison has been a Janesville resident since 1989, before that living in Sublette, IL and Arlington Heights, IL. He married Mary Sabatini in 1945, in Chicago, she preceded him in death in 1977. He later married Chrysoula Courtesy Nicoloff on Sept. 16. 1978, in Maywood, IL. Harrison was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in the Chicago area, retiring in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Harrison was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Chrysoula; 4 daughters: Camille Mason of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Louise Walters of South Elgin, IL, Patricia Koenig of South Elgin, IL and Pamela Cappello of Las Vegas, NV; a step-son, George Peter Nicoloff of Janesville; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH with Fr. James Kuhn presiding. Friends may call on Saturday, Aug 11, 2012, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in Milton Lawns memorial Park. SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.
The family wishes to thank the Sister’s and Staff of St. Elizabeth Nursing Home and Mercy Hospital for the tender loving care they gave Harrison.
