Harold Robert Wood
BLACK EARTH-Harold Robert Wood, age 93 of Black Earth passed away on Oct. 7, 2019, at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home at King, in Waupaca,Wis.
Harold was born in Richland County in the town of Willow on January 27, 1926, to Jesse and Vada (Locke) Wood.
Harold was a veteran of World War II and served through 1946. After service, he provided for his family driving for Hank Raemisch in Middleton for 12 years, Bulk Transport in McFarland for ten years, and drove dump truck for Yahara Materials for 16 years until his retirement in 1988.
Harold loved playing softball through his younger years until he discovered the game of golf, which he enjoyed playing with his sons and grandsons. He played golf with the Black Earth Golf Association for 39 years.
Harold is survived by his children, Dennis (Pat), Richard (Sybyl), Joan (Gary Turk), all of Black Earth, Janice of Prairie du Sac, Ronald (Denise), Duane (Colleen “CoCo”) of Waunakee, and Julie (Dave Walden) of Rochester, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotte; daughter, Joyce (Bill) Schlick-Parrell; son, Dale; brothers, Melvin, Raymond, Clarence (WWII); and sisters, Ester Carter of Rochester, Minn., and Delia Hanold of Reedsburg.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at NEW HEIGHTS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1705 Center Street, Black Earth, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, 2019. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
