Harold L. “Bud” Eggleson
STOUGHTON-Harold “Bud” L Eggleson, age 95, of Stoughton, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at Skaalen Home.
He was born on Jan. 27, 1922, in Stoughton, the son of Elmer and Anna (Jenson) Eggleson. Harold graduated from Stoughton High School and served in the in Army. He spent three Christmases in England during WWII while serving in the costal defense combat unit. He married Jean Mork on Dec. 28, 1948 in Tomah, Wis. He managed Tomah Lumber for many years.
Harold was a member of the Tomah Rotary Club, a founding member of the Tomah Hiawatha Golf Club, and a member of the Stoughton Country Club for many years, and was active with the Tomah Masonic Temple. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Whitewater Teachers College. Harold taught science and math at the high school level. He enjoyed traveling extensively with his family, loved playing golf, cards; especially bridge and cribbage, and was an avid Packers and Badgers fan with a great dry sense of humor. Harold was always a good sport about taking the family camping.
He is survived by daughter, Julie (Bruce) Frey; son, Mark (Shari) Eggleson; brother, Allan (Joyce) Eggleson; brother-in-law, Harlan Hansen; and two grandsons, Wyatt and Jarad Frey. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter Eggleson and his wife Darlene; sister, Marian Jacobsen and her husband Ralph; sister-in-law, Ruth Hansen; and two brothers-in-law, Philip Mork and his wife Pat, and Alden Mork.
Funeral services will be held at Skaalen Home, 400 N MORRIS ST, Stoughton, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, with Pastor James Koza presiding. Private burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held at Skaalen Home from noon until the time of the service on Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the Alzheimer’s Association.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Skaalen Home who took such great care of Harold.
