Harley M. French
Harley M. French, age 70, of Tony, WI, formerly of Janesville, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at the VA Hospital Hospice, Tomah.
He was born in Ladysmith on April 4, 1944, the son of Harley and Margaret (Gray) French. Harley served in the US Army during the Vietnam War stationed in Italy until his discharge in 1969. He was married to Norberta “Bobbi” Richardson on Oct. 23, 1973. She preceded him in death on Aug. 4, 2005. He then married Shirlee (Welch) Telford Meyers on Sept. 7, 2011 in Ladysmith. He had been on over the road truck driver for Don’s Delivery and retired from Blackhawk Transport. Harley was a member of VFW Post 33 in Ladysmith, the DAV, and loved fishing, boating, hunting and most things outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Shirlee; 10 step-children; numerous step-grandchildren including 2 beloved that he helped raise, Phillip and Trevor; 5 siblings: Connie, Tammy, Vicky, Steve, and Shane; 3 aunts: Loretta, Carol, and Margie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobbi; and sister, Patty.
Memorial services with Full Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at the CHAPEL of MILTON LAWNS MEMORIAL PARK with Rev. Jerry Amstutz officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the Chapel of Milton Lawns.
