Gunshots heard near apartment complex in Madison
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police are investigating numerous 911 calls from a westside Madison apartment complex.
The callers reported hearing multiple gunshots from a group of teenagers at the Waterleaf Apartments on Schroeder Road at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
Officers found six bullet casings at the scene.
Officers discovered Tuesday that three bullets had hit the side of an apartment building.
Police said eyewitnesses told officers the gunman was walking in the apartment complex’s courtyard. His arm was extended as he was firing a handgun. There were about eight other young men walking behind or alongside the shooter.
Police said it wasn’t clear if the shooter was targeting anyone or anything.
No injuries have been reported.
Police described the shooter as black, in his late teens wearing tan pants and a dark coat.
