Gunfire reported in west side neighborhood
Shell casings found the next morning
MADISON, Wis. — Madison police said shell casings were found in a west side neighborhood where residents reported hearing gunfire Monday night.
Several residents in the area of the 6000 block of Hammersley Road reported hearing the shots between 11 p.m. and 11:35 p.m. Witnesses told police there was a burst of gunfire followed by another one 25 to 30 minutes later.
Responding officers didn’t find evidence of the gunfire that night but found the shell casings when they returned to the area Tuesday morning.
There were no signs of property damage.
