Gunfire outside Milwaukee home strikes girl, 9, inside

Teen arrested after elementary school break-in

Police said a 9-year-old girl inside a Milwaukee home was critically injured when she was struck by bullets from gunfire outside.

Police Chief Ed Flynn said the incident happened Thursday around 8:20 p.m. He said two groups armed with rifles and pistols were engaged in a “shootout” when several bullets penetrated the home, striking the girl.

Flynn said she is in critical condition at a hospital.

He said more than 40 shell casings were recovered from the scene.
