Governor orders flags to fly half-staff in honor of fallen Wisconsin marine
Ethan Barclay-Weberpal killed at California base
MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Scott Walker ordered that flags be flown at half-staff Monday to honor a fallen Wisconsin marine, killed at his base in California earlier this month.
Ethan Barclay-Weberpal was killed Jan. 16 at Camp Pendleton. Officials say another marine was taken into custody but have released little other information on the investigation.
Walker ordered that all flags fly half-staff starting at sunrise Monday morning and ending at sunset that evening.
Barclay-Weberpal is from Janesville and attended Parker High School. He spent his freshman and part of his sophomore high school years at Parker, then transferred to an out-of-state school in November 2015.
A scholarship fund to support veteran and military students at UW-Whitewater has been established in Barclay-Weberpal’s memory. You can donate here.
