Gov. Walker appoints first female DATCP secretary
MADISON, Wis. — Gov. Scott Walker has appointed the first female Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection secretary.
Walker appointed Sen. Sheila Harsdorf, R- River Falls, Friday. She will be the agency’s first female secretary in its 88-year history.
“Sheila’s experience as a highly respected, dedicated legislator and dairy farmer make her an excellent fit to lead DATCP,” Walker said in a release. “I thank Sheila for her hard work and willingness to continue serving the public, and I look forward to working with her to keep Wisconsin moving forward.”
Harsdorf has represented Wisconsin 10th state Senate district since 2001.
Harsdorf resigned from the Senate effective end of day Friday, and will start at DATCP on Monday.
