Gordon Stauffacher, age 79 of Buffalo Grove, IL, died at home on January 13, 2018. He was born in Monroe on February 10, 1938 to the late Herbert and Irma Stauffacher. He was the beloved husband of Gerri (Adams) for 57 years, loving father of Kim Ellingson and Tracy Ann (Rob) Colantonio, proud grandfather of Chase, Nate, Blake, Casey, and Charlie, dear brother of Al (Joan), cherished brother-in-law of Letty Studer and Gerald (Elizabeth) Adams; and fond uncle, cousin, and friend to many. After retiring from a career in International Human Resource Development in 2014 he continued to study Middle East culture and government and consult on a part time basis. He indulged his passion for 1960-70s foreign sports cars and enthusiastically supported his grandchildren’s academic and athletic pursuits. His life-long love of learning and willingness to embrace new challenges is the legacy that will live on in each of his five grandsons and the generations that follow.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 1329 31st Avenue, Monroe, with Rev. Kathleen Rinear of St. John’s United Church of Christ officiating. Inturnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.
