Gordon now NCAA yards per game rushing leader
Wisconsin RB had second 200-yard game Saturday
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon has taken over the top spot for rushing yards per game in the NCAA after another strong performance Saturday against Northwestern.
Gordon ran for 259 yards against the Wildcats, which was his second 200-yard game of the season.
Gordon, who is averaging 174.2 yards a game, took over the rushing lead from Indiana’s Tevin Coleman.
Coleman, who went for 150 yards on 17 runs against North Texas, is averaging 168.2 per game.
Gordon’s success came despite the rest of his team’s lackluster performance against Northwestern. Wisconsin lost 20-14 to Northwestern and dropped out of the AP top 25 poll this week.
