Gordon H. Gorsuch
Gordon H. Gorsuch, age 86, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Portage, WI August 25, 1926 to the late Wilfred and Tillie (Maginnis) Gorsuch. Gordy attended grade schools in Portage and Arlington and graduated from Poynette High School in 1944. He excelled at all High School Sports. Shortly after High School in September 1944, he enlisted with the United States Navy, and served with the See Bees in the Pacific and in Okinawa, Japan until May 1946. After the Navy, Gordy attended the Molar Barber College in Chicago, Illinois and worked at the College Barber Shop on State St. in Madison, where he later became a co-owner from 1952-1968. Gordy moved to Prairie du Sac in 1968 and bought his own Barber Shop, retiring in 2010, after a 64 year career. He married Wanda Nichols, December 31, 1981.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, Lodi. His children, Steve (Jan) Gorsuch, Whitewater; Jeffrey (Diane) Gorsuch, Winona, Mn; Michael (Tamara Smith) Gorsuch, Sauk City. Stepsons, Randy (Diane) Nichols, Green Bay; Craig (Sherri) Nichols, Rockford, Ill; Mark (MaryJo) Nichols, Prairie du Sac; Joel (Jessica) Nichols, Kansas City, KS. 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren 2 sisters, Janet Clemens, Sun Prairie; and Mina “Midge” (Allan) McCreedy, Cadillac, MI. He was preceded in death by a brother, Merwin Gorsuch and a brother in-law Kevan Clemens.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac. Visitation will be held from 9:00am until time of service. Burial with Military Rites will follow at the Prairie du Sac Cemetery.
