Good Samaritan tackles stranger who punched, spat on group of women
MADISON, Wis. — Police arrested a man after a Good Samaritan tackled the suspect who punched and spit on a group of women early Sunday morning in the 300 block of N. Frances Street.
“When he started throwing haymakers, I took him to the ground,” the man who tackled the suspect said.
According to the incident report, the women were on the sidewalk when 26-year-old Gavin T. Pyle pulled up in a car. Pyle reportedly tried getting the women to take a ride with him and they told him they were not interested. Police said that is when Pyle got out of the vehicle and went into “attack mode.”
Police said at least four women were struck and spit on. None of the women were seriously hurt, but all were shaken up.
UW-Madison police were near the scene when the incident happened and subsequently took him into custody. Madison police took Pyle to jail on tentative charges of disorderly conduct and four counts of battery.
