Golfers compete in WIAA state tournament
Event held at University Ridge
MADISON, Wis. — High school golfers took to the greens on Monday for the WIAA state boys tournament at University Ridge on Monday.
The Division 1 schools had the early tee times on Monday morning. Par five, ninth hole, Waunakee’s Zac Gaugert got a nice chip and he’d par. Gaugert shot a two-over par 74.
Also on the ninth hole, Stoughton’s Henry Klongland tapped in for par. Klongland cards a 73.
In the team race, Holmen leads after the first round with 305, two shots ahead of Arrowhead.14588572
Janesville Parker is 10th, Craig is 12th. Jordan Niebrugge of Homestead is the individual leader at two under. Craig’s Jordan Gagg is tied for eighth at plus two. Janeville Parker’s Dustin Richards’ approach shot was to 10 feet. He shot a 77.
Individually, Homestead’s Jordan Niebrugge, who’s going to Oklahoma State next year, is the leader with two under 70.
Arrowhead’s Matt Ross was second. Klongland’s 73 had him tied for third while Craig’s Jordan Gagg and Waunakee’s Gaugert are tied for eighth overall.
In Division 2, on the par five, 11th hole, McFarland’s Thomas Zahn shot from 10 feet and drained it.
Edgerton was in first place in Division 2. Erik Danielson and Andrew Morrison both shot even par on Monday. The team has an 11-shot lead over Notre Dame.
Edgewood is in third in Division 2, 14 shots behind Edgerton.
In Division 3, Cuba City enjoys a 15-shot lead over Osseo-Fairchild with Lancaster tied for third place. Nate Murray shot 78 to lead the Cubans on Monday.
