Glenn Edward Claassen
Glenn Edward Claassen, 55, formerly of Markesan, WI, Berlin, WI and most recently Fort Atkinson, WI, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2017 at Alden Estates in Jefferson, WI.
He was born Oct. 10, 1962 in Joliet, IL the son of Norman Dean and Evelyn (Milby) Claassen.
Glenn’s smile could light up a room and he was always eager to offer a hug. He was a participant in Special Olympics most of his life and enjoyed showing off his medals.
Glenn loved music, dancing and couldn’t pass up a hamburger with French fries. He was an Avid Bears Fan. His love of people and joy of life was infectious.
Survivors include sisters, Vickie (Lou) Kelemen of Montrose, CO, Patti (Ron) Sorg of Wilmington, IL; brothers, John (Sue) Claassen of Mt. Sterling, IL, David (Cathy) Claassen of Wilmington, IL; brother in law, David Gregory Jr. of Joliet, IL; step-father Merle Lohry of Markesan, WI; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dean Claassen and Evelyn Lohry, sister, Deborah Gregory and brother-in-law, Ed Dean.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church at the corner of Congress and Jackson in Rushville, IL, with Pastor Ron Cox officiating. Also, Glenn will be recognized at the Fall Dance hosted by Fort Atkinson Special Olympics at Barrie Elementary gymnasium in Fort Atkinson on Sunday, November 2, 2017, from 12-3 p.m.
