Gladys Marie Meske
Gladys Marie Meske, passed away on Feb. 9th 2014, at the age of 100. Gladys was born in Christiana, WI on July 8th 1913. Gladys grew up on a farm near Rockdale/Cambridge, WI. Over the years she lived in rural Fort Atkinson, near Barrie School in Fort Atkinson, WI, and Hayward, WI Gladys was married to William Meske on July 4th 1936; they were married for 41 years until he passed away in 1977.
Gladys is survived by, a brother-Alvin Anderson of Janesville, son-Gerald Meske of Fort Atkinson and wife Catherine, 7 grandchildren-James Meske of Maryland and wife Joanie, Sheryl Evenson of Waterloo, Dennis Meske of Fort Atkinson and wife Nancy, Michael Meske of Milwaukee and wife Jane, Laurie Meske of Fort Atkinson, David Meske of Fort Atkinson and Crystal Meske of Waterloo. Also great grandchildren-Alex Lubasz, Cody Lubasz, Rebecca Evenson, Sara Evenson/Lannoy and nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Gladys is preceded in death by her her husband William, brother Harold Anderson, Sister Helen McIntosh and grandson Mark Meske.
Gladys loved fishing in the north woods of Wisconsin, especially with her husband, sister and other family. She relished going to rummage sales and having rummage sales with her sister Helen. She also enjoyed sewing, collecting dolls, dancing to Polka music and listening to old country music. Gladys was a fervent gardener and she canned/preserved the fruits of her labor for herself, family and friends. She preferred drinking tea and eating and sharing organic or health food with family and friends. She was actively involved in her dedication to Jehovah, the Almighty God of the universe. This dedication included her regular study of God’s Word the Bible, faithful attendance at Christian meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and an active participation in sharing the hope of God’s Kingdom found in the Bible- both publicly and informally whenever and wherever she could.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday February 15th at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, W6185 Hackbarth Road, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538.
