Gladys A. Leidig
MADISON-Gladys A. Leidig, age 86, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Faith Living Center. She was born on June 9, 1926, in Sauk City, the daughter of Elgin and Mabel (Bernhard) Berndt.
She married LaVern Leidig on Aug. 26, 1948, at St. Aloysius Church in Sauk City. Gladys graduated from Sauk Prairie High School. She worked at the Federal Bake Shop in Madison until they closed. Later, she and her husband volunteered at Bashford Nutrition Site and for other church activities. Gladys was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison and St. Aloysius Church in Sauk City.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Dan) Olson; granddaughter, Lisa (Toby) Grossen; her most treasured great-grandchildren, T.J. and Sarah Grossen, who were the apple of her eye; grand dogs, Phoebe, Gabby, Lucy, Barkley, and Kibbles; and sister, Virginia Christianson. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; faithful companion, Specsie; and special grand dog, Heidi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012, with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Burial will be at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Sauk City. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Friday.
