BARABOO, Wis. — A 10-year-old girl who died after being pinned under a tree that fell onto her tent during a storm early Sunday morning is identified as Allison Spahr, according to the Department of Natural Resources.
Around 4 a.m. Sauk County deputies were dispatched to the Ice Age Campground at Devils Lake State Park for reports of a tree that had fallen on a tent, according to a release.
Crews arrived and found Kevin R. Spahr, 51, and his daughter Allison trapped underneath the tree, officials said. A Kyle A. Spahr, 13, was able to climb out after the tree fell.
Baraboo Fire Department crews were able to get the people out from underneath the tree, but Spahr was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release. The father and son were taken to St. Clare Hospital.
The family is from Cary, Illinois, a city northwest of Chicago.
According to park officials, the tree appeared to be healthy, and might have been weakened by a passing thunderstorm.
