Girl Janesville police were looking for has been found safe
Janesville police said the child they were looking for Saturday was found safe Sunday morning.
Around 10 a.m. on Sunday, a Janesville police officer found a vehicle matching the description given by witnesses on Saturday, according to an alert.
According to police, officers responded to the 200 block of South Main Street around 7:15 Saturday night. Authorities were called to the area to check the welfare of a 5-10 year old girl.
Reports claimed a silver two-door Monte Carlo pulled up to the girl, and a Hispanic man got out of the passenger side of the vehicle. He allegedly grabbed the girl and put her in the car while a white woman loaded the girl’s bicycle into the trunk.
The girl was heard yelling, “I’ll call the cops,” as she was put in the car.
The driver of the vehicle police found Sunday said they were in the 200 block of South Main Street Saturday looking for their 10-year-old daughter, officials said. The child was not where she was supposed to be, and had to be put in the car by her parents.
Janesville police said the child is safe, and the parents did not violate any laws.
