Gio’s Garden holds annual golf fundraiser

MADISON, Wis. — Local nonprofit Gio’s Garden held its 10th annual golf classic Monday morning to raise money for children with special needs and their families.

Despite the gloomy weather, members and supporters gathered at Hawks Landing Golf Club for the event.

Geof Brown, the group’s executive director, said they hoped to raise about $30,000.

“Support has been great,” Brown said. “This has been a successful outing for us, ten years running now and we’re glad that it’s a regular event and so many people are coming out to participate.”

The group, started by News 3 Now’s Charlotte Deleste, provides respite services for parents of kids with special needs regardless of their financial circumstances. Currently, Gio’s Garden helps care for 85 children.
