MADISON-Gertrud “Trudi” Wiggins, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012. She was born on March 1, 1924, in Marienbad, Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Anton and Margarite (Putz) Obert. She was united in marriage to Clyde B. Wiggins on July 10, 1948, in Heidelberg, Germany. Trudi was very proud of the fact she came to America speaking minimal English, but very quickly learned the language fluently; no one would suspect that she was not born and raised in the United States. Trudi and Clyde loved to travel; they had visited 48 of the 50 states together. She enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, and crossword puzzles. She was also an avid baseball and football fan.
Trudi is survived by her sons, Bernard (Jean) of Arbor Vitae and Greg (Susan) of Waupun; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Beekman, Tamye (John) Smith, and Jill Wiggins; great-grandchildren, Nate, Zach, Mara, and Sam; and sister, Paula Ludwig of Munich, Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Sepp and Ernst; and a sister, Berta.
Funeral services will be held at CHRIST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 944 E. Gorham St., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, with Rev. Glen Reichelderfer presiding. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association or Agrace HospiceCare.
