Gerald L. ‘Jerry’ Johnson
Gerald L. “Jerry” Johnson, 71, of Dodgeville passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 19, 2022.
Jerry was born Dec. 24, 1950, to Douglas & Marjorie (Soderstrom) Johnson at General Hospital in Dodgeville and was raised in Mineral Point.
Jerry married the love of his life, Terri Severson, on April 26, 1975. He was a long-time over the road truck driver for several trucking companies in the Dodgeville area and retired in Spring 2022 which would mark over 50 years of driving, a milestone that was important to him. Jerry combined his deep love for his family with his passion for flying; he inspired his sons to form Johnson Brothers Flying Service, of which Jerry was very proud and eager to help.
Jerry enjoyed coffee with his friends, hanging out at the Iowa County Airport with his boys and driving around with his best girl, Terri, and their faithful pets. Jerry loved adventure and always had a project going that involved engines and wheels.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Beverly Severson, his grandmother, Hilda Soderstrom, and his beloved dogs Nikki, Mario, Easton & Gus.
Survivors include his wife, Terri; two sons, Cory (fiancée Tera Kramer) and Leo Hanson, and Ryan (Nancy K. Smith); his brother, Ed Johnson of Lott, Texas; his father-in-law, Ronald A. Severson of Dodgeville; his brother-in-law, Randy (Karen) Severson of Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; his sisters-in-law, Kris (Jeff) Borne and Jan (John) Bucci of Dodgeville and Leigh (Rolf) Forshaug of Black Earth, Wis., as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews, his new pup, Tucker, and many life-long friends.
Friends may call from 4-7 pm Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME, Dodgeville. Private family services will be held at a later date.
