George Albert Maughan
George Albert Maughan, 96, of Fort Collins, Colorado died July 10th, 2014 at his home. George was born on July 27, 1917 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to Will and Edith (Croft) Maughan. He lived at the family farm near Edmund, Wisconsin and there married Phyllis Grimstad on January 31, 1943. Phyllis died June 25, 1968.
George was an active member of the Masonic Lodge. His membership was in Linden (Wisconsin) Lodge #206, AF & AM and of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Madison, as well as the Order of the Amaranth and the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to farming he trained as a mechanic, and was variously engaged as a mechanic, in later years focusing on farm machinery, well into his eighties. In 1976 he came to Fort Collins to live and work.
George is survived by three children, David (Ila) Maughan of Dodgeville, WI; Irene (Ralph) Rasmussen of Fort Collins, CO; and Fred (Bonnie) Maughan of Lancaster, WI; four grandchildren: David, Daniel, Douglas and Jeannie;, and five great-grandchildren: Thomas, Hannah, Daschle, Mylerson, and Raesana.
A visitation and service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 16th, 2014 at Goes Funeral Care and Crematory, 3665 Canal Drive, Suite #E, Fort Collins.
Masonic Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, July 23rd at Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Dodgeville. Burial follows the service, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Eden Twp. Visitation will be after 10:00 am. Wednesday, July 23 at Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home.
