George A. Cash
MONONA/MCFARLAND-George A. Cash, age 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, climbing the stairway to Heaven on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, after a courageous 15 month battle with cancer. He was welcomed by his twin granddaughters, parents, and many other special people. He was born on June 25, 1946, in Milton, the son of Mildred and Albert Cash. From the age of four, music was a significant part of his life. He was a professional saxophone player in numerous bands including Mendelbaum, Baby Grand, and High Steppin’. On June 29, 1973, he married Rosanne Claerbout on the shores of Lake Michigan. They were blessed with two daughters, Elizabeth (Keith) Steele, and Emily (James) Farwell. At that time he made a career change which allowed him more time with his family. He was the owner of several businesses that developed and manufactured water-based wood finishes. The things that brought joy to his life and a smile to his face included being a dad, grandpa to Max Steele, racing, music, and Badger sports.
He is survived by his wife; daughters and their spouses; a grandson; brothers, David Cash and Don (Julie) Cash; nieces; nephews; and many special friends.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012. Visitation and Celebration of George’s Life will be held at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of service on Friday.
