Genevieve G Rau
Genevieve Georgia Rau, age 100 of Mauston died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse.
Genevieve was born on June 10, 1918 in the town of Plymouth, Juneau County, Wisconsin to Edward P. and Lulu (Newkirk) Wells.
Genevieve married Albert Madden on June 21, 1936. They later divorced. She married Donald Baldwin on July 2, 1955 and were later divorced. Genevieve married Bernard Rau on October 4, 1958 who preceded her in death on February 14, 1968.
Genevieve worked at the Mauston Garment Facory until its closing and then for many years at Hess Memorial Hospital in the dietary department until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and especially her family.
Genevieve is survived by her daughter, LaVonne (Lloyd) Ott, of Wonewoc. She is further survived by grandchildren Laurie Nyen, Debbie Blevins, Danny Ott, Randy Smart and Gene Smart. Great grandchildren were Danielle Ott, Anglea Scharnow, Dustin Ott, Brian Scharnow, Tyler Smart, Hillary Weiss, Nicholas Nyen, Zarchary Smart and Logan Smart. The latest “babies” special to Gen were great great grandchildren Damien Scharnow, Mason Ott, Myla Smart, Xavier Smart, Kainen Jeffries and Weston Ott.She is also survived by a sister Lee Babcock of Alaska.
In addition to her parents and husband Genevieve was preceded in death by a daughter Carol Smart; a son-in-law Kenneth Smart; a granddaughter Tammy Reget; five brothers Orville, Louis, Edward, Arnold, and Elmer and a sister Irene.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mauston where friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
