Gene L. Henry
Madison- Gene L. Henry, age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg.
She was born on April 28, 1927 in Chippewa Falls, WI the daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Ihle) Jasper. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Gene graduated from the UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology. She was a naturalist, guiding school children through Cherokee Marsh for many years. Gene was also a lifelong Girl Scout, an accomplished wood carver, gardener and birder. She mentored many people through their struggles in life.
She is survived by her children: Fred (Lori) Henry, Katie (Doug) Reuhl and Louise (Mike) Amundson; four grandchildren, Steven (Katie) and Michael Reuhl, Ian and Alex Amundson and four great-grandchildren, Madeline, Hayden, Charlotte and Camille.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Henry; son, Byron Henry; her parents; sister, Sally Koepke and brother, Jim Jasper.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., with Msgr. Charles Schluter officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave. and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
