With four locations in downtown Madison, Budget Bicycle Center is the largest locally owned bike shop in town. Opened in 1979 by Roger Charly, Budget offers hundreds of new and used bicycles, in addition to parts and service.
Fat bikes–mountain bikes with giant cushiony tires–are one of the hot trends in the bike market today.They are popular for riding in winter, on both slushy streets and snow-covered trails. Fat bikes also work well in summer on rough roads and gravel trails.
Wisconsin-based Trek has come out with the fat bike “Farley 5” named after the late Madison actor Chris Farley, best known for his work on “Saturday Night Live.”
