Gard, Badgers move on without Howard Moore
Assistant coach still recovering from car crash
ROSEMONT, IL — The Wisconsin Badger men’s basketball program has started practice for the 2019-20 season, but it’s still dealing with the loss of assistant coach Howard Moore for this season.
Moore and his family were involved in a tragic car accident in Michigan in May, killing his wife and daughter and seriously injuring the Badger assistant coach.
Moore continues the slow recovery from his injuries. Meanwhile, the Badgers press on with the new season.
At Big Ten Men’s Basketball Media Day in Rosemont, Illinois, Gard said, “It’s uncharted territory, you know, there’s not a manual for how do you handle those things. As I’ve gone through my career, obviously I’ve been advised on many things – gotten great mentorship from a lot of people but that’s been an area and that’s been an experience that there’s not a road map for that.”
Redshirt Junior guard D’Mitrik Trice added “the coaches have done a great job in instilling confidence in us and just being a voice and being there for us. We’ve had moments of doubt and I think the coaches have definitely instilled that confidence back to this team. “
