Funeral homes adjust to new gathering restrictions
MADISON, Wis.– Ryan Funeral Home is asking people to limit funerals to family only after Dane County announced a restriction banning gatherings of 50 people or more.
Owner Roman Ryan said they are asking that families only invite about 45 people and suggesting only immediate family at this time.
“The important people is the immediate family, number one,” Ryan said. “They have to begin that mourning process.”
Despite the restriction, Ryan said he encourages people to not delay funerals, because it is essential in the process of saying goodbye.
“The important thing is to have the closure. Now, people might say we are going to wait eight to 12 weeks to have their funeral,” Ryan said. “I personally don’t recommend that because that’s a long gap in between starting the mourning process.”
Ryan said if gathering restrictions keep getting smaller, they will figure it out as they go.
Ryan Funeral Home is inviting families back after restrictions are lifted to hold a celebration of life with all of their family and friends at no additional cost. The Home will also record funerals during this time.
