Frank H. Wood
Frank H. Wood, age 85, of Prescott Valley, AZ and formerly of Janesville, died on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, in Prescott Valley, AZ. He was born near Albany, WI on April 15, 1927, the son of Walter C. and Theresa M. (Hoelting) Wood. He graduated from Albany High School in 1944, and served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947. Frank married Eunice N. Zweifel on Oct. 9, 1948, in Delavan. He later married Wilma J. Hawley on Jan. 24, 1959, in Dubuque, IA, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 2005. He had been employed by General Motors in Janesville for over 30 years. After retiring, Woodie and Billie moved to Casa Grande, AZ. Through out their marriage they traveled extensively in the lower 48 states, in Alaska and in many of the other provinces of Canada. There were always new sights to be seen around the next bend in the road, new friends to be discovered, and plenty of stories to be told.
He is survived by his daughter, Shari (Bill Herbst) Cook of Monroe; step daughter, Leola Little of Janesville; sister, Carol Simenson of Janesville; several nieces and nephews; step nieces, Donna, Kathy and Lori. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma; and his sister, Mary L. Ringhand.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Pastor James Van Arsdale officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to your local Humane Society in Frank’s name.
