Frank Edward Studnicka

Frank Edward Studnicka went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 9, 2012. He was 79 years old. Frank was born on July 18, 1933 in the hills south of Blue River, Wisconsin in a log cabin, the second son of Carl and Emma (Kviz) Studnicka. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the United States Navy with the 7th Fleet in the Pacific. He graduated from Blue River High School in 1951 and after military service earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University at Platteville. He earned his Master’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Post Master’s studies were done at the university of Oklahoma at Norman and at the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Frank received the Lord Jesus as his Savior on July 11, 1958 and for most of his life worshipped with the saints at the Beetown Gospel Hall. In 1959 he was married to Belva M. Schwingel of Blue River. Frank taught at the University of Wisconsin Platteville until his retirement in 1994. He served on numerous university committees and retired as a Professor of Geography and Chair of the Geography/Geology Department. Frank appreciated the outdoors and nature, particularly the hill country of southwestern Wisconsin, a region he much admired. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. An avid reader, his library contained well over one hundred books on American Military History with most of them concentrating on the Civil War.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his only sibling, his brother Charles. Frank is survived by his wife Belva of Lancaster, two sons: Seth (Abby) of Chillicothe, Illinois, Philip (Barbara) of Plain, Wisconsin,  one daughter Ann of Madison, Wisconsin, his sister in law Francis of Rantoul, Illinois five grandchildren: Travis, Nicholas and Allisa of Plain, Eve and Nadia of Chillicothe.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Blue River Community Building, 201 Clinton Street, 53518.

Burial will be in the Blue River Valley Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call at the Blue River Community Building on Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
