COTTAGE GROVE – Forrest Denney, age 79, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012. He was born on Nov. 25, 1932, in New Castle, Ind., the son of George and Lena (Back) Denney.
Forrest joined the Air Force right out of high school and served in the Korean Conflict. He married Betty Steinke on May 27, 1954. Forrest was employed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, retiring after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of 58 years on May 27, 2012; daughter, Linda (Mike) Carney of Deerfield; a brother, Larry (Sharon) Denney of Tenino, Wash.; sister-in-law, Jean Green of Springfield, MO, step-sister-in-law, Sharyn (Pat) Juneau of Marshfield; two step-brothers-in-law, John (Edwina) Steinke of Gambrills, MD and Jim(Kathy) Steinke of Wisconsin Rapids; granddaughter, Lindsey (Todd) Finley of Madison; two step-grandsons, Mike (Cate) Carney Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn. and Adam (Becca) Carney of Janesville; step-granddaughter, Mikaela (Tom, fiancé) Carney of Madison; two great-granddaughters, Charlotte Finley and Sadie Carney; and many nieces and nephews. Forrest was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert; in-laws, Jo and Earl Shaul and Earl and Helme Steinke; and a nephew, Garrett Ninneman.
Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012. Private inurnment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
